Is Freedom Of Speech About To Disappear?
The very concept of freedom finds its root in the Bible in what Jesus said in John 8:32: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus said we could only be free by knowing the truth, and he claimed to be “the truth” in John 14:6. So, true freedom can only come from knowing Jesus and coming under the authority of His Word. We live in America where freedom of speech is supposedly guaranteed by the 1st and 14th amendments to the constitution. As a Christian, I believe that serving God as I see fit and enjoying a relationship with Him is the ultimate liberty. II Corinthians 3:17 tells us that, “where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” Romans 6 & 7 teach us that sin brings us into bondage, while Romans 8:2 tells us that “Jesus has made us free”. Spiritual freedom does not guarantee political freedom of speech, however. But “speaking the truth in love”, as Ephesians 4:15 commands us to do, is a biblical mandate. So, if the government guarantees its citizens the right to speak the truth freely, that government has aligned itself with biblical principles. But if the government suppresses that right to speak freely, then it is working against God’s command. Freedom of speech does not guarantee that the truth will be told, of course, but it does permit it to be told. Despite the 1st amendment, Christians in America no longer have total freedom of speech. Laws are being created that now call the teaching of biblical truth, “hate speech”. A society that proclaims freedom of speech and then creates laws against “hate speech”, is clearly speaking out of both sides of its mouth. I fear our freedom as Christians to speak that truth as the Bible proclaims it, is quickly coming to a close and that persecution is coming quickly to those of us who are willing to speak the truth. Our president did something recently that will do more to quench free speech and the spreading of the Gospel around the world, than any other act thus far. What was that act? He gave control of the internet to a multi-national consortium headed up by the United Nations. Senator Ted Cruz tried to lead an effort to stop it, but the corrupt Republican leadership, mainly Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, and House Majority Leader, Paul Ryan, both refused to get on board and put a halt to Ted Cruz’s efforts. Please understand: this is irreversible—the next politicians we elect won’t be able to change it back. Poor people all around the world have been able to be exposed to the views of the world and the preaching of the Gospel, any place there is a computer, a phone, etc. connected to the internet. But by surrendering control of the internet, one cannot help but wonder how long that will continue. I fear my ability to broadcast my radio program over the internet, or for my church to have a web site and to broadcast my sermons on our u-tube channel around the world may soon be coming to a quick end, because my sermons are anything but politically correct! If you think I’m exaggerating, you had better wake up and smell the roses! The silencing of opposing voices has already begun! On Sept. 26, the afternoon before the first Hillary— Trump debate, popular radio show host, Michael Savage, host of The Savage Nation, was shut down mid program, for negatively discussing Hillary’s health condition, which is being kept secret as much as possible. The Savage Nation is the 2nd most popular radio talk show in the nation, with an audience of over 20,000,000 listeners on over 400 stations across our land. Some will say; who cares, I don’t like Michael Savage anyway. He says some crazy things. Perhaps he does, but the issue is not whether you agree with Michael Savage or not; it’s free speech. If someone as big as Savage can get bumped off of talk radio for speculating on Hillary’s health, then we’re all in trouble, and free speech is about to become a thing of the past! If they can shut him down and censor him, then they can shut anybody down that doesn’t say the accepted politically correct stuff, including your church! That is if you have a pastor that isn’t afraid to preach the truth! More and more our politicians are surrendering our freedoms to an emerging, authoritarian world government. Freedom of speech is just about on its last stand. We had better speak up now in support of it, while we still can, or we will be forced by an authoritarian government to keep our mouths shut when it’s gone, or pay the consequences! It won’t come completely until they are able to disarm us and do away with the 2nd amendment, also, but if Hillary is elected I’d say you might as well kiss your 30.06 or your .45 goodbye! I fear that dire days are ahead for Christians in America, so you had better be trusting God now!
