Paul speaks in Philippians 3:19 of those, “whose glory is in their shame”. They brag about things they ought to be ashamed of, in other words. There’s a lot of that going around these days, especially since we have rejected the Bible as our standard for what our values should be. Fallen man has always done this, but it appears to be getting worse as we get closer and closer to the coming of the Lord. In vs. 18 before that, Paul calls those who brag about things they ought to be ashamed of, “enemies of the cross of Christ”. What’s bad is when those who do that call themselves Christians. I don’t care what you say you are, if you brag about things that God’s Word says you ought to be ashamed of, your end will be “destruction”, as vs. 19 also says. None of the real Christians that I know would ever think of bragging about something the Bible clearly says they ought to be ashamed of! I wish I could show you a picture of something that took place in Boston a few weeks ago. You can look it up if you wish. The headline read, “Transgender Flag Raised At Boston City Hall”. I didn’t realize until I saw the picture that there even was such a thing as a transgender flag. Boston’s Democratic Mayor, Marty Walsh, said, “It will continue to fly until everyone is equal under the law in Massachusetts”. When you fly a flag over a city, I believe that has always been a sign from the day flags were invented, that you have conquered that city. Right? During WW II whenever Hitler’s Nazi war machine took over a city across Europe, the first thing that happened was that the flag of that country was taken down and the Nazi flag was raised in its place. It was also true that when the Allies liberated that city, the first thing that happened was that that disgusting Nazi flag was torn down. That has been the case with every war in any place and it’s why I will always be bothered when I see somebody burn or stomp on our flag in disgust. Brave men have died for what that flag stands for. We just remembered them again a few days ago on Memorial Day. So, by flying the transgender flag over Boston that says that the reprobate mind has now conquered Boston and obviously the Mayor wants the world to know about it. The striped pattern of the flag is said to be designed such that no matter how you fly it, it will always be correct. But folks, what that represents will never be correct in God’s eyes no matter how you fly it! The designer said that it symbolizes us trying to find correctness in our own lives. The only place to find correctness for our life is in the Lord and the Bible, and you won’t find anything in there that will ever make that correct! I know one thing for sure, I would be afraid to go to sleep at night in Boston if the transgender pride flag was flying over my city. If that flag were flying over the borough building in Rockhill where I live, I’d be upset and I’d be doing what I could to get it taken down. Because what good would the prayers of the Christians of Boston do for God’s blessing on their city, if they didn’t try to do something to get that flag taken down, and to stop what it represents? Call me guilty of being judgmental if you want, that’s what one is accused of if he dares speak the truth today, but God will never ever bless a city with that flag flying over it! And to fly that flag is to almost invite, or dare God to do something about it! I wonder if Sodom and Gomorrah had a flag of some sort flying over them before God destroyed them. Now, there are those who even call themselves Christians, who will say we shouldn’t get involved in fighting this kind of stuff, don’t ruffle any feathers, we shouldn’t boycott Target stores over their transgender bathrooms, live and let live, etc. But a moral war is going on in this country, in case you haven’t noticed. I hope it’s not too late for us to wake up before all that was once Christian and precious to us about this country is lost! Many churches and pastors today won’t stand up for anything, so as a consequence they fall for everything! Do you know what Mason said to Dixon, “You’ve got to draw the line somewhere!” Are you afraid to draw the line where it ought to be drawn according to the Bible, pastor? If I ever get to the place where I’m afraid to draw the line or to stand up for what is right in my pulpit, I hope I’ll have the sense to step aside, for what good will I be doing! To brag about anything the Word of God condemns as sin, is to end up on the wrong side of the fence, as far as God is concerned. I ask you, what flag is flying over your life? The flag of truth from the Bible, or the perverted rainbow flag, or the transgender flag, or some other flag that represents something sinful that, men ought to be ashamed of?
