Those Who Stand Against Israel Will Be Destroyed

Jeremiah 30:16-17 says this: “Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.” God had judged Israel, allowing them to be taken captive into Babylon. He is now promising to restore them. Since it was God Himself that afflicted Israel, He is the only one who can help her now. God makes a promise here to defend Israel by punishing her enemies. It is a beautiful promise. God says, “All they that devour thee shall be devoured.” It was a promise specifically for Israel then, but there is no reason to not believe that it is a promise that applies to any time in the future, like even today. Remember, Zechariah 2:8 declares this about Israel: “For he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye”, meaning that Israel is the “apple of God’s eye”. So, we can say that God has some rather strong feelings for Israel. Any nation in any time needs to remember that, including today! Notice what vs. 17 said: “I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee.” The day will surely come when Zion’s health will be fully restored. Jerusalem itself has been destroyed completely 7 times, and captured 40 times. The Jews now have control of it once again, and I don’t see any time in the future where they will lose it. Zechariah 12:3 says, “And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all they that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.” In case you haven’t noticed, that’s what is going on right now! What to do with Jerusalem is the main question the United Nations is dealing with right now. Obama and the pope and much of the rest of the world want to divide it between Israel and the Palestinians. Anybody that sides with the UN on this one will wish they hadn’t, including the United States! The promise that God made to Jeremiah in the scripture we read, I believe applies to all nations in any age or time. Israel is certainly not perfect, nor do I support everything they do. They are now there in unbelief, for the most part. Many Jews in Israel are even atheists. But yet God is on their side! And Putin and the Russians who have now moved into Syria had better beware, as well as the Iranians, ISIS, Hezbollah, or even the United States. If we side against Israel it will be what ultimately does us in as a nation. I could think of at least 100 other things that are doing us in right now, but if we side against Israel that will be the last straw. God has protected us in the past in the United States because we were the greatest missionary sending force for the Gospel and because we stood with Israel, but we will see how quickly our bullet proof vest comes off if we side against Israel. I fear we already are, and that more than anything else concerns me for the future of our country. My church sides with Israel as a church. That’s why the Israeli flag stands on our church platform, along with the Christian and American flags. We still believe the promise of Genesis 12:4 that God made to Abraham and to Israel, the nation that would come from him: “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all the nations of the earth be blessed.” Jeremiah didn’t really say anything new—he just reminded us again of what God thinks of Israel and Jerusalem, and reminded Israel at the time that God would see to it that they were restored in their land. That has happened in our life times and you will never live to see the day when Israel is removed from her Godgiven land. The devil would love to make it happen, though, because think about it—the future of the world will be centered around Israel, and Jerusalem will be the capital of the world during the millennium, according to the Bible. If the devil could somehow succeed in getting rid of Israel, Bible prophecy could not be fulfilled, which would make God out to be a liar, and also it would mean he wouldn’t get what he deserves. So, a lot is at stake with the future of Jerusalem, and God will not let Israel down, as He will fight for them, even if they are outnumbered a million to one! But that will never happen that the devil wins, nor will you live to see the day when Israel is driven from her God-given land! Many foolishly pray for peace in our world. That will not happen until Jesus, “The Prince of Peace” returns to bring it. But Psalm 122:6 says: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
